OSH students have much to celebrate, and many congratulations are due to this very talented and hard-working group of young people. We wish them every happiness and success in their lives after OSH and thank them all for the many contributions they made during their time here.
29% of all A level grades are at A or A*, which is above regional and national levels! The Maths Department has done particularly well with 43% of all grades at A*/A and 75% for Further Maths. OSH Geographers and Computer Scientists are also celebrating as 40% and 36% respectively of all grades are also at A*/A. Plus, with 19 subjects achieving a 100% pass-rate (including A level Arabic and Russian, and the EPQ), the Class of 2026 have achieved the school’s strongest results since the A level reforms in 2015!
Some notable successes include subject ambassadors Hayden and Alice, with seven A*s between them, and who now go to the University of Oxford to study Computing and History respectively. First XV rugby captain Harry, who returned from a successful rugby tour to South Africa just last month, achieved A*AA and will now study Chemistry at the University of Nottingham. Kimran, who led Interact, the Rotary Youth Club, to its highest levels of charity fundraising yet, achieved A*AA and will shortly read Law at the University of Manchester. Prefect and leader of the Debate Club Ryan (A*A*A) heads to LSE to read Law, and fellow prefect Isla will study Marketing and Management at the University of Exeter.
Will (A*A*A) is to be congratulated on winning a highly competitive degree apprenticeship with Dyson. Another prestigious degree apprenticeship goes to Hari who joins BMW.
OSH Maths students have won places at a number of prestigious institutions. Head of the Boarders’ Council Archie (A*A*B) has won a coveted place on Southampton University’s Artificial Intelligence degree course. Classmates Aimee (A*A*A*) and Caitlin (A*A*A) will study Engineering, and Computer Science and Maths respectively at Durham. Subject Ambassador Macey (A*A*A*) will study Maths at the University of Manchester, and prefect Aavai (AAA) will remain in the West Midlands and study Chemical Engineering at the University of Birmingham. Congratulations are also due to 1st XI footballer Alex, who ends a successful season with a very impressive A*, A*, A and will study Chemical Engineering at UCL.
OSH cadets are also celebrating. Senior cadets Ben and Eddie, with three A*s and three As between them, will begin their Maths degrees in Birmingham next month, whilst RSM Orlando (A*AB) will study Film at the University of West of England, Bristol. Last year’s RSM, Barney, is off to the University of Oxford to read Mathematics and Philosophy following his gap year.
A number of students will be embarking on medical professions with Phillippa (AAA) heading to the University of Nottingham Veterinary Medicine and Surgery; Haaris (AAA) to Queen Mary University of London for Medicine; Maiya-Jay (A*AA) will travel to Northern Ireland’s Queen’s University, Belfast to study Dentistry; and Illia (A*A*A*A*) to the University of Birmingham for Medicine.

“We’re incredibly pleased with their results and it’s a huge well done to all of our students who opened their envelopes today. Two years ago, we looked at ways of boosting our A level scores in certain areas. We introduced two new subjects, some adaptive learning software, and a new undergraduate-style lecture course for all students. These changes have worked really well so I’d like to thank, in particular, our fantastic Head of Sixth Form Rob Orr, who led on these initiatives and who steps back from Sixth Form leadership next term.”
