OSH limited edition Year 11 tie makes it to Buckingham Palace!

After receiving his Year 11 2025 tie marking the last all-boys’ cohort in the 358-year history of the School, there was no other tie Mr. Kilbride was going to wear!

On 14 May 2025, King Charles III and Queen Camilla hosted the second garden party of the year at Buckingham Palace in London, supported by the Department of Education.  The event celebrated individuals from the education and skills sector and was attended by Education Secretary Bridget Phillipson.

The King and Queen welcomed 7,000 representatives from various educational fields to Buckingham Palace, including our own Headmaster, Mr. Kilbride.  That same morning he delivered an assembly on legacy and referenced our amazing Year 11 cohort.  Proudly wearing his Year 11 leavers’ tie, designed by the very same Year 11 pupils and produced by our Parents’ Association, he then attended the King’s Garden party at Buckingham Palace.

Mr. Kilbride commented “I am confident that nobody else, not even the King, was wearing a one-off tie designed and presented by their Year 11 students.  Amidst the gallery of ties we have at OSH, this is surely one of the finest.”
