Interact President, Izzy raises £4,4000 for Birmingham Children’s Hospital

OSH is lucky enough to have an excellent student-led charitable society which fundraises for worthy local and national causes.

Led by President and Year 13 student Izzy and in conjunction with the Stourbridge Rotary Club, Interact raises money and awareness for multiple charities throughout the academic year.

Student Izzy sits in professional recording studio with Black Country Radio presenter, Clive PayneFollowing a highly successful fundraising drive for Birmingham Children’s Hospital where Izzy skydived from 14,000 feet with a minute of free-fall raising £4,400, Vida from the Rotary Club arranged for her to be interviewed live on Black Country Radio by presenter, Clive Payne.  Izzy discussed her skydive experience and personal relationship with the Children’s Hospital, explaining the importance of fundraising and how others can get involved.  She also shared details of upcoming Interact campaigns and ways in which the whole OSH community come together to help others.

Commenting on her interview, Izzy says “It was a great experience even if a bit nerve-wracking at first, especially considering it was a live broadcast!  I’m very grateful to the Rotary Club and Clive for the opportunity, and it’s nice to be able to raise awareness for charities and organisations that mean so much to me.”

Next up for Izzy and Interact is the annual Black Country Food Bank drive where the team will call for donations of food items, canned goods, festive treats and toiletries to support those going through difficult times this Christmas.  She’s also thinking about her next fundraising campaign for Birmingham Children’s Hospital.  Watch this space!
