Appointment of New Head at Old Swinford Hospital

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Mr Graeme Wright as the school’s next Head.

Mr Wright is currently Head Master of Altrincham Grammar School for Boys, one of the country’s leading state grammar schools, and will take up his new role at OSH on 1st September 2026.

“We are absolutely delighted Mr Wright will be joining us as the 20th Head of Old Swinford Hospital and confident that he is the ideal leader to guide our School into its next chapter of success. Mr Wright has a clear vision of where the school should move on to and he wholeheartedly shares our values and ethos. We look forward to welcoming him and his family into the OSH community.”

Mr Wright has led Altrincham Grammar School for Boys since 2018, following a distinguished career in education that includes senior roles at The King’s School in Macclesfield, Trent College, and Victoria College, Jersey where he served as Senior Deputy Head. He holds a degree in History from Liverpool University, a Master’s in Educational Leadership and Management from the University of Nottingham, and was awarded the National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH) in 2023.

Before entering the teaching profession, Mr Wright served in the Royal Marines for seven years, undertaking operational tours in Northern Ireland and the former Yugoslavia.

Commenting on his appointment, Mr Wright said:

“I am deeply honoured to have been invited to lead the next chapter in Old Swinford Hospital’s long and distinguished history. OSH is rightly recognised as one of the country’s foremost state boarding schools, known for its pursuit of academic excellence, rich co-curricular programme, and strong pastoral care, all rooted in a Christian ethos. I am excited to guide the school through its next phase of development. My family and I are very much looking forward to joining the OSH community and getting to know the pupils, parents, staff, and alumni.”
