Students at Old Swinford Hospital have once again achieved impressive results in their A Level examinations.  First choice university places and entry onto competitive apprenticeships have been secured by the vast majority.

Headmaster, Paul Kilbride comments:

We congratulate our students on these impressive results.  Their grades reflect the benefits of a balanced Sixth Form programme where the performing arts, sport, outward bounds and perfecting are pursued alongside academic study.  It is to their credit, and that of their teachers, that they are going off to university or the workplace as rounded, confident and capable young people.’

A large number of OSH students have done particularly well including…

Tom Sparks from Stourbridge secured an impressive A*A*A.  He learned how to speak Chinese during his time at OSH, completing his HSK qualifications in his free time, received an A* in his EPQ (Extended Project Qualification) on the Singaporean economy, and also won a number of golf tournaments with the Staffordshire team.  Tom is now going to the University of Bath to read Economics.

Freddie Bartlett from Edgbaston achieved ABC.  Whilst leading OSH as Head of School, Freddie played Macbeth at the Birmingham REP and was instrumental in putting on this year’s school show, Matilda Jr.

Head of School and stalwart netball player Anna Lonergan from the Wyre Forest gains A*AC.  She ran the Christian Union at OSH and has spent this summer working in youth camps in Turkey.  Anna is now off to the University of Sheffield to study Architecture.

Deputy Head of School and Vice President of the fundraising committee, Interact Sally Griffin from Oldbury gains A*A*A!  She will now progress to Durham University to read Mathematics.

Barney Hamilton Roderick from Wollaston earns an incredible A*AA.  Barney has been a significant part of the Combined Cadet Force throughout his time at OSH, progressing go the role of Senior Cadet and Warrant Officer in Year 13.

Hockey player and prefect Remy Wear from Stourbridge has AAB, and is now off to the University of Bath to study Management with Marketing.

Cara Caladine has gained an impressive AAA, progressing to the Heath Sciences University to study Chiropractic Science.  Katie Lilies is heading to Loughborough University to study Psychology, and Sarah Moyo will study Film Making at UWE, Bristol.

The vast majority of our students are looking forward to starting their undergraduate university studies next month.  Offers are still being confirmed and popular chooses include the Universities of Birmingham, Bath, Liverpool, Nottingham Trent and Cardiff Metropolitan, and Josh Vowles will start on a degree apprenticeship with Capgemini.

Everyone here at OSH are immensely proud of our Year 13 students, and wish them the best of luck for their futures.
