21 determined Year 12 physicists have successfully participated in the Senior British Physics Olympiad Challenge 2026.

This is the first time OSH have entered the competition, thanks to Freddie for putting the idea forward after sitting the Chemistry equivalent.  The aim of the BPhO is to encourage the study of physics and to recognise excellence in young physicists through fifteen annual physics competitions. The challenge itself is a single, one-hour paper which assesses and challenge students’ ability to work at a high level in Key Stage 5 and beyond.  Particularly aimed at problem solving, it’s no mean feat; even Mr. Hodgson commented on how tough it was!

Tom, Lucy and Ben all received commendations.  Jai, Jake, Harry, Gideon, Sean, Alex, Jacob, Joseph, Josh, Kian, Caleb, Ed, Areez and Daniel all gained Bronze Awards.  With Lucian, Freddie, Sangasanga and Zayd achieving Silver Awards.

Congratulations to every who participated and rising to the challenge!
