Meet Arun, one of the youngest boarders to join OSH this academic year, and find out what he thinks of boarding.
Admissions to OSH are regulated by the Governors’ Admissions Policy and the statutory School Admissions Code, which support our commitment to provide a supportive, stimulating and caring environment in which all of our students are able to grow, both individually and as part of a community.
We strongly recommend that you come and see us by attending one or more of our open events, by making an individual appointment to meet the Headmaster and have a tour of the school or by calling our admissions office on 01384 817325 so that we can talk you through our admissions process.View Term dates 2016-2018
* Termly and Weekly boarding places for 2017 admission are still available.
**Students can still register for a 2017 Sixth Form Day place. Registrations received after 9 January 2017 will be added to a waiting list.
All prospective Year 7 pupils are assessed to determine whether they are suitable for boarding. This is such an important part of the admissions process because we need to be confident that each child will be happy here.
For Termly and Weekly boarders, there is no academic test.
Prospective Year 7 Flexi-boarders are required to complete a computer based entry test – the Old Swinford Hospital Online Test (OSHOT). This is taken in the September before the year of admission, but don’t panic as it’s not as daunting as it may sound. It’s a short test designed to be novel and engaging and to assess certain skills in a more objective and far less stressful way than traditional IQ type tests.
Day places are also available, and there is no academic test.
As a boarding school, OSH does not have a local catchment area. If you live in England, don’t forget to include OSH on the Local Authority Common Application Form for Secondary school transfer as well as applying to us directly. This isn’t necessary if you live outside of England, you’ll just need to complete our own application form and communicate directly with us.
Find out about all the fun there is to be had at OSH, from our resident boarder and budding musician, Fergus, who is enjoying his first year in Prospect House.
To find out more about our admissions process, or to find out when the next open days are running, contact admissions on 01384 817325 or fill in the enquiry form at the bottom of the page.
Meet Nico, our international boarder, and discover how attending OSH has helped him to achieve his ambition to learn fluent English.
Find out how OSH helped Damien to grow in confidence and independence, by providing him with the springboard he needs to continue his studies abroad.
