OSH student James Ryan has been named in the line-up for the Philippines U20 National Sevens Team for the U20 Asia Rugby Sevens Championship.
The Philippines will be competing against the heavyweights of Asian Rugby including Japan, Hong Kong, Korea and Sri Lanka. Their U20 Sevens programme is aimed at developing the next batch of Volcanoes to represent the Philippines at international level.
James will attend the official training camp at the Southern Pains High Performance Facility in Calamba, Laguna.
We wish him luck for the tournament which will be played at Kings Park, Hong Kong in August.
James, who lives in Dudley, joined the OSH Sixth Form from Bishop Milner Catholic School. He is currently studying Biology, Chemistry and Maths at A level.
Commenting on James’ achievement, Director of Sport Mr Coalter said, “We are really proud of James’ selection, as we are of our all students receiving caps for their national teams. It is a great honour and we hope he has a successful tournament in Hong Kong.”
