News of Former Student

January 19th, 2017

Former student Izzy Detheridge popped back to OSH in January to catch up with her old teachers.

Izzy who joined OSH from The Kingswinford School,  left in 2016 with four A Levels.  She is currently studying for a BA Honours in English Language at The University of Birmingham.

Speaking on life at university, Izzy said “The course is intellectually challenging, but this is a blessing because it allows me to flourish and discover new strengths within myself that I did not previously know I had.  I love the study of English and this helps in terms of doing well.”

As she is not studying creative writing or literature, Izzy has been utilising her renowned writing skills by submitting pieces for ‘Redbrick’, the University of Birmingham’s student newspaper (see links below).  In addition she has had some paid work writing for a London based travel company One Dome (link below).

Mrs Zoe Mullen, English Teacher said “It’s always lovely to hear of former students doing so well.  Izzy was full of praise for OSH and the preparation it gave her to tackle her university course, which is wonderful feedback.”
