Student Awarded Top Music Place

November 16th, 2016

Congratulations to Jean-Claude Meurisse who has been awarded a place to study music at the Birmingham Conservatoire from September 2018.

17 year old Jean-Claude joined OSH in the Sixth Form from Castle High School, Dudley.  He has immersed himself in music at OSH and sings with both the vocal ensemble and choir.  He also sings with the Birmingham Junior Conservatoire and is a piano accompanist.

Commenting on Jean-Claude’s remarkable achievement, Head of Music Ms Anna Downes said “It is highly unusual for a student to be offered a place for singing in the immediate years following school.  The true potential of the voice is not generally obvious until a person reaches their mid-20s. I am delighted for Jean-Claude and this is a testament to his hard work and commitment.”

Comment from Jean-Claude:  “I am currently studying Music, Business Technical and Theatre Studies at OSH and one day hope to become a music teacher.  Before taking up my place at the Birmingham Conservatoire, I will be taking a gap year to develop my singing and piano skills, and obtain more concert experience.
