Fantasy novelist Marcus Alexander, author of the Keeper of the Realms fantasy series visited Old Swinford Hospital on 20th April. Throughout the day he entertained and inspired pupils from years 7-10 in various presentations and workshops. With his huge personality and booming voice, he mesmerised his OSH audience and emphasised the importance of learning from all life experiences.
One of the many highlights of the visit was the ‘book signing’ where pupils were able to chat with Marcus and obtain copies of his book, not forgetting the numerous ‘selfie’ opportunities.
Marcus is an action and adrenaline junkie and a champion of literacy who has built up a reputation for inspiring today’s youth to put aside their smart devices and pick up a book.
Commenting on the visit, Ms Joanne McGoldrick (School Librarian) and Mrs Jas Kainth (Subject Leader of English) said “The students were treated to an inspiring and motivational day when author Marcus Alexander visited the school. His engaging and original approach certainly created a buzz amongst the boys as they enjoyed watching his energetic talk.
