Former Student to Study Neuroscience at Cambridge

March 24th, 2016

Former Sixth Form student Danyal Akarca will take a break from his medical degree to study an MPhil in Neuroscience at Robinson College, University of Cambridge.

Danyal joined OSH from Summerhill School, Kingswinford and left after A Levels to study Medicine at the University of Southampton.  Now in his third year, he has completed pre-clinical medicine (BMedSc) and gained a place at Robinson College.

Commented on his offer, Danyal said:  “As a medical student, I specialised my dissertation into understanding the efficacy of various neurosurgical techniques used across the UK.  Neurosurgery is something that very much interests me and may be a future career path for myself. As a master’s student at the University of Cambridge, I hope to learn more about the complex science relating to the brain. I’m sure it will influence my future career whether it is in further PhD studies, clinical medicine or other fields.

I very much enjoyed my years at OSH, getting involved in academic life and playing rugby.”

Congratulations Dan and keep us updated on your progress in this fascinating and crucial area of medicine.
