November 26th, 2015

Year 13 student, Jacob Smith, has been offered an unconditional place and scholarship to study trumpet at the Birmingham Conservatoire from September 2016.  Jacob will receive £2,000 per year for the duration of his four year course.

Jacob has been a member of the prestigious CBSO Youth Orchestra for the past two years.  He also plays in the School’s orchestra, swing band and concert band.

Director of Music Anna Downes said “I am delighted for Jacob, he is an exceptional musician and it is rare to be offered an unconditional place at audition.  He has been a dedicated member of all our musical ensembles and has a very bright future ahead of him.”

Jacob, from Kingswinford, is also a School Prefect and has been studying the trumpet for around eight years and has gained his Grade 8 in piano.
