The inaugural ‘John Dutton Challenge Cup’ golf tournament took place between OSH and the Rotary Club of Stourbridge, with the OSH team winning 3-0.
The event was played at the stunning setting of Stourbridge Golf Club on a sunny day in May and was set up in memory of Rotarian John Dutton who died in November 2014. John had for many years been the liaison between the Rotary Club of Stourbridge and the School’s Interact Club.
Congratulations to the OSH pairs:
Rodrigo Belzunce Y7 and John Petfield: 5+4
Ben Hutchins Y8 and Harry Payne Y12: 8+6
George Westwood Y9 and Chris Fellows Y10: 1 up
Commenting on the tournament, John Petfield said “It was an enjoyable afternoon of golf where the boys played really well. Thank you to the Rotary Club of Stourbridge for providing the cup for what will hopefully be an annual competition.”
Deputy Head and Rotarian Dale Wilkins said “John made an immense contribution, not only to Interact and the School, but also to the young people of the area in general. He will be sadly missed. This is a fitting tribute to him, as is the annual prize in his name for a member of the School community who has made a significant contribution to the community through service and fundraising. This will be presented for the first time at this year’s Prizegiving”
