Three chamber ensembles, all coached by Musician In Residence William Cheung, took part in the annual Dudley Festival of Music, Drama & Dance.
The OSH Cello Trio and OSH Piano Quartet both won their classes performing movements from Aeschbacher’s Suite Op.27 in D and Dvorak’s Bagatelles Op.47. The OSH String Trio came second by just one mark with a commended performance of Beethoven’s Serenade Op.8 in D.
Adjudicator Alan McLean praised the chamber groups for “excellent balance and convincing articulation”, “dynamic performance” and “great awareness of the texture and phrase” along with constructive criticism which was well received and taken on board by our students. This helped the ensembles to develop even further and they later took part in an Acorns Charity Concert and in the OSH joint concert with Elmfield School.
