Prospect’s First Appearance in School’s Battle of the Bands

March 27th, 2014

Six acts took to the stage of the Foleyan Centre to compete for the OSH Battle of the Bands Live Lounge 2014, which took a different format this year to incorporate smaller, acoustic groups.

The competition was tough, but ‘Equanimity’ won the award for best band and Pippy Jacob in Year 12 won the best solo act.  We were fortunate this year to also have an entry from Prospect House (pictured), with their band ‘Liam and the Lemmings’ performing ‘Ho Hey’ by the Lumineers, with a guest appearance from Year 8 Maxim Still, who later entertained us with some folk violin – a most welcome addition to the programme. This was the first time that a Year 7 band had appeared at the school Battle of the Bands, under the direction and rehearsal of Musician-In-Residence Mr Cheung.

All acts were highly praised by our external judges, who are professional musicians in the pop/rock music industry.

Thank you to guitar teacher, John Westwood, for organising the event and to the Stourbridge Music Centre, for their generous donation of trophies.
