Two 1st XV OSH players have been selected for the England U18 rugby squad. Huw Taylor (aged 17) from Claverley Shropshire and Sam Smith (aged 18) from Harvington, Kidderminster are both boarders at Old Swinford Hospital and play for Worcester Warriors U18s.
England beat Scotland 28-6 during their first U18 international at Hamilton Rugby Club on 9th March. The talented pair, who both represented England U17 and North Midlands U18, are training hard for their next matches. Sam has been selected to play against Wales and Huw for the FIRA tournament in Poland in April.
After taking up rugby at the age of seven at his local club, Chaddesley Corbett RFC, Sam then moved onto school rugby at OSH and now plays in the 1st XV as a flanker.
Huw relishes his family links with the game. His brother Edward captained the OSH 1st XV and England U18 and is now playing for Loughborough University, having completed a year at Worcester Warriors. Their father, Lance, played for the Midlands rugby team. Huw started at Bridgnorth Rugby Club and now plays lock/back row.
Sam and Huw have both signed contracts with Worcester Warriors next year.
