37 historians visited Berlin, the sixth such visit by the History Department in six years. Highlights included the Reichstag and Dome, the Holocaust Memorial, the Brandenburg Gate, the Olympiastadion, the Fernsehturm, the Stasi Memorial, Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp, the DDR and German History Museums and the river boat ride, as well as ice skating and the Christmas markets.
A surprise bumping into Chancellor Angela Merkel whilst out shopping – proved rather exciting too!
Thank you to the students, whose behaviour was exemplary, for their enthusiasm and interest.
