OSH’s young chefs are creating a stir in the new Food Technology Classroom, competing for two places in the Rotary Young Chef Competition regional final in December. The aspirational chefs will have to create and present a healthy two course meal on a fixed budget of £10, completed in two hours.
Leeza Maitland, Teacher of Food Technology at Old Swinford Hospital said, “Cooking is a valuable life skill and we are hoping to introduce GCSE Food Technology from September 2014. It is very popular with pupils and the Chef’s Club is often oversubscribed. We also offer cookery skills for our Sixth Formers in preparation for university. Pupils are very excited about the competition and the possibility of reaching the national finals in April 2014.”
