After three weeks of hard graft, the U12s ran out against Nottingham High School. Five boys were playing their first ever game of rugby and others were in new positions or playing for the first time without belts and tags!
During a good bit of possession, the handling skills the team had practised (although you wouldn’t have thought so in the warm up!) clicked and some of the best handling I have seen from a Year 7 for a long time, shocked the visitors. I am not in the habit of naming individual try scorers since it is usually a team effort, as it was in this instance with everyone getting involved.
The opposition did not give up, showing plenty of fight scoring two tries, but OSH was ruthless and a 48-10 result was an astounding first outing against a highly rated rugby school. More challenges await and much needs to be developed, but what a start!
