Backbreaking Challenge for Charity

June 5th, 2013

Old Swinford Hospital students Nick Kwilecki and James Cross have set themselves an incredible physical challenge to raise money for Help for Hugo and the Royal British Legion.

15 year-old Nick and 16 year-old James have entered the Karrimor Great Trail walking approximately 11km (7 miles) reaching heights of 309m.  To make it even more demanding they will be carrying rucksacks with the full military weight of 40kg (85lbs).  They have been collecting sponsorship all week and challenging fellow students to try and lift one of the rucksacks.

The Karrimor Great Trail Challenge is set in one of the UK’s most scenic locations taking in fantastic Lakeland views of Keswick, Derwentwater and Basenthwaite.

Speaking before they set off for the Lake District, Nick and James said “This will be a strenuous but worthwhile exercise to raise money for two such good causes which are very close to our hearts.  We see this event as a tribute to the Armed Forces as well as raising money for those in need.”

To donate contact Nick Kwilecki or James Cross in Witley House.
