Congratulations to 15 members of Old Swinford Hospital’s Sixth Form and two from Year 11, who have just completed a mammoth 24 hour run, in aid of Winston’s Wish and Help for Hugo.
Over 185 miles were covered by teams of two and three runners, with each student averaging around 23 miles and the fastest individuals managing a full marathon of 26 miles.
Organiser Miss Aimee Featherstone, who is a Biology and Science Teacher and residential tutor at OSH, came up with the idea of the charity event, after successfully encouraging a number of students to take up running.
She said, “It was a fantastic team effort with everyone supporting each other, especially during the tough times such as 2 am in the morning. Without this support and the students’ tenacity, they would probably not have done as well as they did.”
“Thank you to all the staff who gave their time, support and encouragement, particularly those who ran or cycled along with the students.”
