Morriston Male Voice Choir Returns to Stourbridge

March 7th, 2013

Old Swinford Hospital is delighted to announce the return of the famous Morriston Male Voice Choir, who will be joined by the School’s own wonderful Swing Band for a concert on Saturday20th April 2013.

The concert, which is open to members of the public, will take place in the Foleyan Centre at 7.30 pm.  Bar facilities are available in the Great Hall from 6.45 pm.  Seats can be reserved with a donation of £10.00 per person from Reception at Old Swinford Hospital or by emailing: [email protected].  Cheques should be made payable to ‘Old Swinford Hospital’.

All proceeds from the concert will go towards ‘Help for Hugo’, a trust fund set up to support the son of former Old Swinford Hospital student Capt Rupert Bowers, who was tragically killed in action in Afghanistan in 2012.

Old Swinford Hospital has a personal link with the Morriston Male Voice Choir as the Headmaster’s brother Michael is a member.  The Choir was formed in 1979 when twelve members of Morriston Rugby Club decided to form ‘Glee Club’ to provide entertainment for local charities and retirement homes. Of these original twelve, eight are still faithful members of the Choir today and it is recognised as one of the leading Welsh choirs.
